Cookies policy

IDL Inverdolsa, SL informs about the use of cookies on its website: idl.es

What are cookies?

Cookies are files that can be downloaded onto your device through web pages. They are tools that play an essential role in the provision of many services within the information society. Among other things, they allow a website to store and retrieve information about a user’s or device’s browsing habits and, depending on the information obtained, they can be used to recognise the user and improve the service offered.

Types of cookies

Depending on the entity that manages the domain from which the cookies are sent and processes the data obtained, two types can be distinguished:

  • First-party cookies: Those sent to the user’s terminal from a device or domain managed by the website editor and from which the service requested by the user is provided.
  • Third-party cookies: Those sent to the user’s terminal from a device or domain not managed by the editor, but by another entity that processes the data obtained through the cookies.

If cookies are installed from a device or domain managed by the editor but the information collected is managed by a third party, they cannot be considered first-party cookies.

There is also a second classification based on how long they remain stored in the user’s browser:

  • Session cookies: Designed to collect and store data while the user accesses a website. They are typically used to store information that is only relevant for the provision of the service requested by the user on a single occasion (e.g. a list of purchased products).
  • Persistent cookies: The data remains stored on the device and can be accessed and processed for a period defined by the cookie’s controller, which can range from a few minutes to several years.

Lastly, another classification exists with six types of cookies depending on the purpose for which the data obtained is processed:

  • Technical cookies: Those that allow the user to browse a website, platform or application and use the various options or services available, such as controlling traffic and data communication, identifying the session, accessing restricted areas, remembering the items in an order, carrying out the purchase process, registering for or participating in an event, using security features while browsing, storing content for video or audio distribution, or sharing content via social networks.
  • Customisation cookies: Allow the user to access the service with some general predefined characteristics based on a series of criteria in the user’s device, such as language, the type of browser used to access the service, regional configuration from where the service is accessed, etc.
  • Analytics cookies: Allow the controller to monitor and analyse the behaviour of users on the websites to which they are linked. The information collected by this type of cookie is used to measure website, application or platform activity and to create browsing profiles of the users of such sites, applications and platforms, in order to make improvements based on the analysis of the usage data made by users of the service.
  • Advertising cookies: Allow for the most efficient possible management of advertising spaces.
  • Behavioural advertising cookies: Store information on users’ behaviour obtained through the continuous observation of their browsing habits, which allows a specific profile to be developed to show advertising based on it.
  • External social media cookies: Used so that visitors can interact with content from different social platforms (Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.) and are generated only for users of those social networks. The terms of use of these cookies and the information collected are governed by the privacy policy of the relevant social platform.
